Grasshoppers and Locusts

Grasshoppers and Locusts

This is another song whose hook came from a dream. It's about that end-of-the-worldish theme of a plague locusts (and grasshoppers). The narrator of the story has decided that if this plague of bugs signifies the end of the world, she might as well have a beer. When you think about it, maybe that's about all you can do if it's the apocalypse. Enjoy a nice, cold beer, while you wait for the end to come.

The lyrics are:

Grasshoppers and locusts

When those scary bugs got here, I'll admit, I had some fear
Something in the air feels mighty wrong
If it's the apocalypse, I want to drink beer and sit
Listening to country music songs

Grasshoppers and locusts

I don't know what to expect, with the sky filled with insects
They gave me the willies, I confess
Is it something God has sent? And now must we all repent?
Cuz us humans made the world a mess?

In the time it takes them to fly all the way here
I hope I get the chance to have another beer

These bugs seem to have an attitude
And they come from some other latitude
Buzzing, screeching us to a halt
With some bluster, mustering assaults
Is this, indeed, the apocalypse?
And I wonder if we can stop all this
Grasshoppers and locusts are here
We can't stop them, so I'll have a beer

In the time it takes them to fly all the way here
I hope I get the chance to have another beer

Grasshoppers and locusts
