Can I Sleep in Your Mouth?

SLEEPMTH
Dang, I ran into technical difficulties - if you have trouble playing this link, go to the player thingy at the bottom.

I got this song from a dream, yesiree.

I've heard of this phenomenon, where, if you're feeling off, you might have what is called, "a hitchhiker." A hitchhiker is a spirit that doesn't know to "go toward the light" when they die. They get stuck on Earth and oftentimes attach themselves to some human host in order to find a cozy place to go to.

This song is about the world changing really fast in such a way that lots of people die. (I'm not sure if it's about covid, or some future time when lots of people die; yeah, I'm not sure). In any event, in the song, I wake up to a voice asking, "Can I sleep in your mouth?" Then I ask Timmy and Bobby what's up, and they explain the scenario to me. That is, they explain the one I just explained above.

The lyrics are:
Spirits are singing, “Can I sleep in your mouth?”
Clear ditties ringing, “Can I sleep in your mouth?”
Who is saying, “Can I sleep in your mouth?”
My mind is praying. “Can I sleep in your mouth?”

What is it that I am hearing inside of my head?
Fucik and shit, I need a clearing; I’m talking to the dead
Timmy and Bobby said that humanity is weird
It is changing probably, but I can go have a beer
Timmy and Bobby said spirits are all around us now
Singing songs of the dead; here is the fall that makes us frown
Spirits want to find a way to make it so their minds will stay
Inside a mouth, inside an eye, the human mind don’t want to die

Things are changing. “Can I sleep in your mouth?”
It brings rearranging. “Can I sleep in your mouth?”

Can I sleep in your mouth?

If I try to go there, can I go to Heaven, go to Heaven? If I try to go there when I die?

I'm trying an alternative way to post these songs cuz I initially couldn't get into the account I usually use. Letsee if this player thingy works!

Timmy and Bobby #9

TANDB009
This is another song that might suck; but I decided that last week's song doesn't suck. In any event, the song I posted just before this and the song I just posted before the song I posted just before this are dear old favorites of mine, so if this song sucks, go ahead and listen to those ones. Or just listen to them, even if this one doesn't suck.

The rap part uses the metaphor of an a thousand year old clock, which comes up in a graphic novel thingy I’m working on. It’s like, I’m really predictable, as predictable as an a thousand year old clock. And the nature of my predictability is my tendency to self sabotage over and over, which leads to my own self-destruction. Timmy and Bobby see that and want to make me stop doing it.

The lyrics are:
We are up in Heaven’s trees, singing with the honey bees
And we see that she’s in Hell, and we want to make her well
We are coming to get her, and she’ll know her voice is heard
We are listening from above, bringing songs on the wings of a dove

And we see her there, and we know that she will drown in air
And we see her there, and we want to tell her that we care

She’s a clock, not new on the block, a ticking tock
Like a rock, predictable knock, a sticking lock
She is a thousand years old, and now her story’s been told
Inside a newspaper rolled, let’s let the feelings unfold
She is an a thousand year old clock and every day
The same old way, and now she stays a rock that’s stuck in clay
And we have to rescue her now because her ways
Have made her go under her plough, she’s her own prey

We are Timmy and Bobby, are we, and our voices sing in bees
And we see that she might bleed, unless we do the kindest deed
We are Timmy and Bobby, are we; we’ll take her to the purple sea

We’ll take her to the land of the trees, we’ll let her know that she is free

I Miss My Kitty Cats

Kitties 6th mix
This is a song about how much I miss my kitties and how I'm looking forward to seeing them when I die. Truth be told, I'm not sure what year I originally recorded this song. What happened was, I totally forgot about it, but then my iPod did this weird random-shuffle thing, and it came up. So I decided to record a backwards version and then post this version. The backwards one is scheduled for late August, and I was initially gonna post this the week after, but I got all impulsive and decided to put it up this week. It was a too-near-and-dear-to-my-heart song for me to wait that long to put it up.

Sinking Ship

SINKLP01
This song is a fusion of country music and hip-hop, yesiree. I went for that old timey country music feel, although it'd sound more old timey if it had banjos and fiddles in it. It's got references to Linkin Park's song, "Shadow of the Day," which is a song about a person who's lost hope and is looking forward to death. This song kinda riffs on that theme of hopelessness.

I 'sperimented with rapping a set of lyrics in one place and singing them in another place, in that old-timey country music style. Like, you get to hear two different takes on the same set of lyrics, yesiree. Timmy and Bobby cain't decide whether to listen to Willie Nelson or Linkin Park.

The lyrics are:
I am a sinking ship and I’m drinking
Fire that is shrinking all my thinking
Sad and dark my flame is a singing
Band, it’s a Park, whose name is Linkin
End Of The Day, they call it a Shadow
It’s on my way, and I’ll follow in a sad glow
There’s no more waiting, gotta get me gone
My ship is sailing to the big dawn

SAME AS ABOVE, EXCEPT FOR THE 3rd LINE:
Sad, in the dark, my flame is a singing

In the breaking dawn, there is no more
But an aching song and a closing door
In the fading light, we’re going down
Like a failing kite, that’s run aground
A sinking ship is what I am
I’m thinking this will make me damned
Timmy and Bobby they are getting worried
They see me sobbing; my eyes are blurry

Timmy and Bobby Song #7

TOWER001
Here's another song that might suck. It's basically about a spinal column. Like, it came from a dream, and the dream song lyrics said that "trying to integrate it is easiest when it's in the backbone." It compares my fucked up spinal column to a tower of doom. Yeah, this song might suck, like Timmy and Bobby state in the picture. Behind them is the Tower of Doom, which, as I said, is a metaphor for my fucked up spinal column. The very last part is a repetition from another song from a few months ago. I kept on hearing it in my head while doing this song, as if this song should lead into that song, so I stuck it in there. Oh yeah, and there's a sample of a grandfather clock in there.

The lyrics are:
I said I’m scared; what should I do?
They say they care and they’ll be there cuz they’re my crew
Timmy and Bobby say I’m fine
They want to see me go to Heaven in my mind

And we are trying to integrate it…it is easiest when it’s in the backbone

It is the tower of doom; when there’s no power, there’s gloom
And it is coming soon, the thunder’s bloom makes sounds that go boom
We felt the showers of sparks, and now we’re hidden in dark
It is the final spinal mind-blow that is hitting the mark
And they’re saying that they’re praying to the Heavens above
No mistaking, we’ll be taken on the wings of a dove
Timmy and Bobby want me to sing the song of the trees
Inside the land of with the band of lost tribe of honey bees

“How do I know?” is what I say
It’s Heaven’s glow where we will go on one fine day
And then they say that there’s an end
After this day, we’ll make our way ‘round Heaven’s bend

And we are trying to integrate it…it is easiest when it’s in the backbone

It’s the songs of the dead: I want to scream them into a microphone

Timmy and Bobby Song #6

TANDB0B6
This is a song about being scared of dying and Timmy and Bobby tryin' to be reassuring. They're, like, telling me that death isn't so bad, and Heaven is a good place. And they're waitin' for me, there at the gates o' Heaven. There's a bear in the song, and I found a picture of Timmy and Bobby with a bear in it. There's a dog, too, in the picture. And a Willie Nelson poster.

The lyrics are:
To be gone, they are dreaming. Back to home - Heaven’s gleaming

Timmy and Bobby say it’s home; and you’ll never be alone

To be gone, they are dreaming. Back to home - Heaven’s gleaming

They’ll be waiting just outside Heaven’s gate - it’s open wide

It’s the ride there that makes me scared and aware, and I wish that I did not care (did not care)
If it’s bumpy, I will be jumpy and dumb, we are going into the air (to the air)
Timmy and Bobby said when it is the time,
We’ll be fine we’ll be dead, and inside Heaven’s mind
The best of you will be there, with a bear, and we won’t have any more cares

Heaven’s waiting round the bend, with bears that are playing in the den
Ancestral spirits and me, we are animals playing in the trees

To be gone, they are dreaming, back to home: Heaven’s gleaming

Dornstrife, Von Saskatoon

This is another one of those songs I got from a dream; it's the next song in the Timmy and Bobby series. In this song, they're considering going to a sweat lodge because they want to get advice from spirits about how to help me out with my poopy health problems. See, they've been in communication with these spirits named Dornstrife and Von Saskatoon, and they think maybe going to a sweat lodge will improve their communications with them. Timmy and Bobby are all conflicted because they wonder if Dornstrife and Von Saskatoon can help them out, or if they're trickster figures that might fuck them over if they trust them with their advice.

All the while, the woman running the sweat lodge, well, she seems to be over-promising things. See, it's not a traditional seat lodge, run by native folks; it's a sweat lodge run by a white woman, riffing on native practices. There's lots of controversy surrounding white (or otherwise non-indigenous) folks running sweat lodges. I ain't gonna go into the politics of it or express my opinion about it - I'll leave that for another time. I'll just say, Timmy and Bobby are aware of the controversy surrounding sweat lodges run by non-indigenous folks, and that's makin' them all conflicted about attending, in addition to the fact that they're not sure if they can trust the spirits that show up there.

The lyrics are:
Timmy and Bobby say it’s true
They’ve never bothered me or you
Who are these people in their minds?
They are not evil or unkind

Dornstrife, Von Saskatoon

Operator of the sweating, setting lodge
She sez later we’ll be letting in the gods
But Timmy and Bobby are on guard
But there’s no stopping when it’s Heaven’s bard
Operator listening on a red phone
For the copper pay dirt, glistening when we get stoned
It’s the spirits that are giving us golden rules of truth
Fifty karats worth of good advice sold in baking booths

Timmy and Bobby are the man
Listening to spirits of the land
What is this Heaven that is trees?
Sinking blind seven honey bees

Dornstrife, Von Saskatoon

Operator of the thing that is a phone
Now or later selling things that look like home
Listening to spirits that are on parade
Dunno if it’s real, but she says it’s her trade
Operator of the sweating setting lodge
She sez later she’ll be letting in the gods
But Timmy and Bobby say that they are on guard
It is a start, but is it Heaven’s bard?
Operator listening on a red phone
For the copper pay dirt, glistening when we get stoned
It’s the spirits that are giving us golden rules of truth
Fifty karats worth of good advice sold in baking booths

Dornstrife and Von Saskatoon
Are spirits that say there is room
Inside the sweat lodge, be there soon
They say it’s like a living room

Reprise

REPRISE1

This is the last song on the album of songs about a fucked up school: It's a reprise of a couple themes from this album. (See below, if you're unfamiliar with this project.) It's mainly something to wrap things up and give a chance for the characters to reflect on things. The guardian angels are reflecting on their having helped the girl out, and the girl and her friend are reflecting on their time at the school.

Oddly enough, this album fits exactly onto a CD, with no spaces between the songs.  Like, just a couple more seconds and this album woulda been too long to fit onto a CD. I'd been anxious because when I recorded "Climbed Up" the previous week, I was afraid the whole thing was too long for one more song. But I really wanted to do a reprise, so I gave it a shot. Dang, it's exactly the length of a CD. Yesiree.

If you want to order a CD, you can email chiefrunningdogandjesus@gmail.com and I'll make arrangements to send you one.

This is what last week's song sounds like if you turn it around backwards:

The lyrics are:
We're her guardian angels, and it got real bad; we came to rescue her, cuz she got real sad.

I have ears that won't stop ringing; my mind is broken but I can't stop singing
I'm blind and stupid but I'm learning the world is turning but it won't stop burning

He said do you want to wait, til graduation day? We can run away; I said no let's stay.

One day, I started writing a song about a fucked up school. Then, a few days later, that lawsuit came out, involving those pervy professors in the Dartmouth Department of Psychological and Brain Sciences. I was all, oh, my stars!!! That’s where I got my Ph.D.! Then I finished writing the song about a week later. I thought it was just a song about how the school system fucks up kids, but after I finished writing and recording it, I realized parts of it were about my experiences in that poopy psych department (the unconscious mind works in mysterious ways). In any event, I decided to write an album about a fucked up school in order to process my experiences of having been in that department and how the culture there impacted me. This album ain’t necessarily about Dartmouth, per se. It’s more of a weird, inner exploration where I’m, like, having a fucked up dialogue with my unconscious about my experiences at Dartmouth. Jung used to call that kind of stuff “active imagination.” So far, this album follows the story of a girl, whose guardian angels try to protect her, but often can't find her. The angels at some point decide that they have to protect the girl from those nasty teachers and start to plot against them. But then they realize they don’t want to actually harm the teachers, so they, instead, make the teachers’ brains into nature brains ™, which are basically brains that hear communications coming from nature spirits. The angels do this because they think it’ll give those teachers more empathy, and will, in turn, be nice to the students.  After the teachers receive those nature brains, they go crazy because a mountain starts speaking to them, and the numinosity of that experience is too much for them to handle. As graduation approaches, the girl and her friend get more and more nervous about not having a job afterwards, so they turn to beer to help them cope with their anxiety. In the meantime, the angels locate a man, named Bob, who owns a gas station and can give the girl a job. Then Bob, who is really nice gives the girl and her friend jobs.

It Didn't Work

I got this song fresh from a dream this morning. In the dream, I  was marrying a weird guy, who kept falling asleep as we stood at the altar. Then this song started playing. It's the next song in the Timmy and Bobby series, but I feel kinda like it might suck. Maybe it'll sound less sucky if I listen to it after smoking pot. Yeah, maybe I'll try that.

In any event, this song is about Timmy and Bobby bein' bummed and discouraged cuz of wantin' to help me out, but those pesky health issues getting in the way of everything. Its the song of things sucking. It's a song that might suck about things sucking, so in a sense, it's self-similar. It's a self-similar sucky song about things sucking.
Qa
Here're the lyrics:
She thought that a Ph.D. would get her lots of things
It would open up the door to all her wildest dreams

It didn’t work

Now her health is failing and she don’t know what to do
And her mind is flailing and she does not have a clue

It didn’t work

Oh, shucks, the lemon, it is a car; oh, fuck, she thought that it would go far
On the road with a curve, she fell off a cliff
Bitter fruit, life will serve, she don’t have a lift
Timmy and Bobby, they want to do, something that’ll make a cake from the fruit
Something that’ll make her life live the dream, a dozen rattle-shakes burn strife and it’s clean

Timmy and Bobby, they had her back
But she couldn’t see them cuz her mind was black
Timmy and Bobby, they don’t know what to do
And they started sobbing, her life has turned to poop

It didn’t work

We’ll be dead soon, fly to the moon, then we won’t worry ‘bout things that are doom
Fly with a car, up to the stars, it’s not far, we’ll see Mars, Heaven is ours
Easy as pie, in the sky, we will die; Heaven is nigh, it’s no lie, Fred says, “Hi.”
We’ll sing a tune, we’ll be there soon, now there is room for a Heavenly moon

Timmy and Bobby had a nice thing to say

If I try to go there, can I go to Heaven, go to Heaven? If I try to go there when I die

Backwards Reprise

BREPRIS3
This is another one of those marching-ish sounding backwards songs. Or maybe I'd say it's all official sounding. I can't think of the word - there's a word for something that's all serious and sacred. It's a serious and sacred sounding song. Maybe if I think of the word, I'll go back and edit this and put the word in that I can't think of. I keep thinking of the word, "austere." But it's not austere. It's got too much emotional charge in it to be austere.

In any event, oh, holy gosh!!!! This is the last backwards song on the school album, which means next week's song is the last forwards song. It's hard to believe we've reached this moment. It gives me sadness, and at the same time, I'm glad this album is all good and complete, because if it wasn't, I'd be bummed out.
