I Could Be Dead Now

I Could Be Dead Now

There's a thing that happened a while back that kept me from being dead. Someday, I might tell people what it was, but for now, it's one of those times I should keep it to myself. Y'know, it's better to keep your cards close to you or however that poker expression goes. Yeah, I think I just mangled that poker expression about not giving away your hand because you're holding your cards close to your chest. Yeah, it's that old expression about not being too reveal-y with one's cards. I mean, I'm dumb; I could just google it and see what it is, but I'm lazy. I'm the laziest person who's ever walked the face of this earth, but at least I'm not dead yet.

The odd, spooky thing about this song is, when it says, "I might be dead now," that's actually a possibility, in the sense that - given that this song is pre-recorded - I could have passed after posting it. This could, very well, be the song of a dead person. If the great earthquake came tonight and I got smushed after posting this here song, then I would be dead, and you could still hear my voice.

But I'm not planning on being dead anytime soon.

The lyrics are:

I might be dead now, dead now, dead now
I might be dead now, dead now, dead now

I might be dead now, I could be dead now, dead now, dead now
I might be dead now, I could be dead now, dead now, dead now

Something peculiar occurred
I can't put into words
Otherwise, I might have died
I shook my head, and I cried

I could be dead now, I could be dead now, dead now, dead now
I could be dead now, I could be dead now, dead now, dead now

I can't tell you just now
Just what it is, or just how
Something made me still be here
Just why that was, I'm not clear

I might be dead now, dead now, dead now
I might be dead now, dead now, dead now

I could be deceased
Now to be released
To the fancy feast of
Carrion crows
But I did not die
Death, I did defy
Yes, I am alive
And I say, “whoah”
I don't know why this something saved me
From the grave, and I say it gravely
What the fuck? I don't know
Was it luck? I think maybe so

I could be dead now, I could be dead now, dead now, dead now
I could be dead now, I could be dead now, dead now, dead now

Convertible Car

Convertible Car

This is a happy song that came from a dream this morning. It's about wanting to drive in a convertible car, a peppy li'l ska song with cats caterwauling in it.

The lyrics are:

Give me the keys to your convertible car, convertible car, convertible car
Give me the keys to your convertible car, convertible car, convertible car

Driving in the countryside, with the top pulled down
This is where I found delight; then I drove to town

Do you have room in your convertible car, convertible car, convertible car
We'll be off to the moon, and afterwards, we'll do Mars, convertible car, convertible car

Driving up the mountainside, with the top pulled down
This is where I found delight; then I drove back down

I want to drive; I want to drive

Thelma and Louise had this kind of a car
Driving it makes me feel like a movie star
Inside this car I feel like I'm on a porch
Give me sunblock, so I do not get scorched
You might ask me why I am driving this car
There's no rational reason, it's just a lark
I feel like a bad-ass inside this man-made machine
Driving like it's first class, this is so nifty-keen

Give me the keys, and I will take it real far, convertible car, convertible car
Please, let me please, drive it on up to the stars, convertible car, convertible car

Driving up the mountainside, with the top pulled down
This is where I found delight; then I drove back down

Peeing Out The Sacred Waters

Peeing Out The Sacred Waters

I got the hook for this song from a dream; I figured if a song was about peeing out sacred waters, then maybe the water was from one of those baptismal fonts at a church. The person in the song got real thirsty and, out of desperation, went into a church and drank from the first water source she saw. Then she feels all conflicted about it afterwards, cuz the next time she pees, it's gonna be holy water that she's peeing. Oh, my.

The lyrics are:

I snuck into the church
Cuz I had lots of thirst
I drank some holy water
Cuz I was feeling naughtier

I'm peeing out the sacred waters
You heard me right: I'm peeing out the drink
Peeing out the sacred waters
That goes with rites inside a sacred sink
Holy water that would foster
Lack of thirst, but now I'm not sure
Am I the worst cuz I am naughtier
Now

I wanted blessed drink
So I'll confess this thing
I drank from Heaven's pool
And it went down real cool

I'm peeing out the sacred waters
You heard me right: I'm peeing out the drink
Peeing out the sacred waters
That goes with rites inside a sacred sink
Holy water that would foster
Lack of thirst, but now I'm not sure
Am I the worst cuz I am naughtier
Now

Is it a sacrilegious thing I've been?
Making the pastor wetter than a hen
That fell down into the fancy marble sink
(Be)Cuz she was trying to get holy drinks
Yes, you heard me right, I'm peeing out the drink
That goes with rites, inside a sacred sink
No, I do not know what Jesus Christ would think
Maybe, "Go with the flow," because it's just a drink

Another Medley Song

Medley Number 3 Of Recent Times

This is, yet, another medley song thingy. It's from the point of view of Timmy, Bobby, and Father O'Malley.

The lyrics are:

What is this thing she has to tell us about?

When she speaks, I might cry cuz I know just how she died
I am freaked but I'll try to show her I'm on her side

When she speaks, I might cry cuz I know just how she died
I am freaked but I'll try to show her I'm on her side
I'm a priest and a man, who's a tad unorthodox
Singing feasts in the land with some bears and purple rocks

I am Timmy, and I am Bobby, and I am Father O'Malley, and we're dumb

What we mean by that is that we cannot figure this thing out and we are all thumbs

I am a preacher man, but I think that I am damned
I don't know just how to live

Our friend is suffering, and our dumb hands just wring
We don't know just how to live

I am a preacher man, but I think that I am damned
I don't know just how to live

Our friend is suffering, and our dumb hands just wring
We don't know just how to live

Backwards Song That's Sad

BNOMORE1
This song sounds like a song that would be at the end of a movie where someone died. And it's one of those tragic deaths. It's one of those songs that sounds happy, but it's really about someone dying, so in a sense, there's an element of the horrific in it.

I Was a Fire Goddess

Fire Goddess

This is the next song in the possession series. I'm posting it alongside another medley this week, just like last week. If this were bein' produced as a play, the 2 medleys would come before the big reveal song from last week, as well as this week's song, but I posted the medleys alongside the plot-development songs cuz, well, I'm not sure why, to be honest.

The first part has nothing to do with the song, itself. I managed to get a recording of Luci, the cat, meowing! It's the only recording I have of her meowing. Then the cat meowing through the song is her sister, Lulu, who's on most of my songs, these days. Lulu's easier to get a recording of cuz she meows more than Luci.

The lyrics are:
Yes, my friends, it's true, I was a fire goddess

When we heard the fire death story, we started to worry
It 's a bitter, screaming end
And the tears make our eyes blurry, she was in a hurry
To join with her fire god friend

Yes, my friends, it's true, I was a fire goddess

And she turned into a fire before she could expire
This is what she just described
With a situation, dire, she could now aspire
To go join the fire god's tribe

She was starting to get grilled
All because she was strong willed
And the men who were in charge
did not like that her spirit was large
It was the barbecue from Hell
Burning like a stake on a stake, well
Then she turned into a fire
and she flew away from that pyre

Yes, my friends, it's true, I was a fire goddess

And it's such a scary story, and we start to worry
We want to protect our friend
From the badness in the past that makes memories last
We want her to have a happy end

How Do I Tell My Friends?

How Do I Tell My Friends

This song is the one where the me-character presents her friends with the big revelation about her past life: She was burned at the stake as a witch, and the fire god comes to rescue her, but in a weird way. He tells her if she turns into fire, herself, the fire won't hut her cuz fire cain't hurt fire.

The lyrics are:

They said kill her, burn her slowly
But that's not how I want to die
They said kill her, burn her slowly
I want to sleep up in the sky

How do I tell my friends they burned me at the stake?
Because I was a brat, who made a big mistake?
How do I tell them that they burned me as a witch?
Cuz my ego got fat, and they thought I was a bitch?

But the fire god came to me, he says that he has lots of friends
In the sky, where they all party, and the fun will never end

How do I tell my friends they burned me at the stake?
Because I was a brat, who made a big mistake?
How do I tell them that they burned me as a witch?
Cuz my ego got fat, and they thought I was a bitch?

My god, the pain shot the flames into every vein
Cuz I was the bane of those church men who wanted me tame
They said that I was a witch and I had to die
And now I cry when I think of those times when I fried
But the fire god came to me and he said I'll be free
If I turn my spirit into a fire; I will see
I can go up with him into the sky with his friends
It is my last wish to turn into fire, and the pain will end

I will be a fire cuz a fire cannot hurt itself

When the fire god came to me, he told me he would be my friend
In the sky, where we will party, and the fun will never end

But the fire god came to me,
And the fire god came to me
Yes, the fire god came to me
He said

If you make yourself into a fire, you'll be a spirit in the sun, and you'll have lots of fun

Something does not seem right - I lost my appetite; I don't know just how to live
My bad psychology will always follow me; I dunno just how to live

Father O'Malley's Medley

Father O'Malley's Medley with Fade Out

This is a song with a bunch of themes all mushed together into one song. Father O'Malley's singing it. If you fancy the "bears" theme in it, that's a re-visitation of a song I recorded on November 21 of 2020.

I wish it didn't fade out as soon as it does, but I layered the rap on top of singing at the end, and it sounded like shit, so I faded it out before it got to that part.

In addition to being a character in this album, Father O'Malley makes appearances in my comic books and graphic novels. He plays the upright bass in those narratives. Here I am, playin' my electric bass alongside Father O'Malley playing his upright bass in the picture.

The lyrics are:

When she speaks, I might cry cuz I know just how she died
I am freaked, but I'll try to show her I'm on her side
I'm a priest and a man who's a tad unorthodox
Singing feasts in the land with some bears and purple rocks

Bears – I used to be afraid – bears, I used to be afraid

Bears tell me that they'll bring the warm-dreams
Bears – tell me that they are on my team

Bears – I used to be afraid – bears, I used to be afraid

When she speaks, I might cry cuz I know just how she died
I am freaked, but I'll try to show her I'm on her side
I'm a priest and a man who's a tad unorthodox
Singing feasts in the land with some bears and purple rocks

I am Father O'Malley, inside a valley, with my old pals, see?
And the girl has a malady, big as a galaxy, that's not a fallacy
This is a form of praying, that's what I'm stating, with the Bear Nation
And you might just be saying my song is grating, but just have patience

When she speaks, I might cry cuz I know just how she died
I am freaked, but I'll try to show her I'm on her side
I'm a priest and a man who's a tad unorthodox
Singing feasts in the land with some bears and purple rocks

I wish I could take it back, I wish I could take it back
I I will always love you, always love you, always love you, you, you, you, you

A Broken Promise Inside My Eyeballs

A Broken Promise Inside My Eyeballs

This song has a weird origin. I was talking to my unconscious the other day about why my night vision has suddenly gotten really bad, and the owl in the picture told me it was cuz a broken promise is inside my eyeballs.

I found out later that the broken promise has to do with man agreeing to ask nature for permission to do stuff with our opposable thumbs, when we acquired opposable thumbs. Like, we're supposed to ask: "Is it okay to chop down this tree to make a house?" We'd agreed to ask nature before doing stuff like that. But we broke that promise years ago. That broken promise landed inside my eyeballs and gave me bad night vision.

The lyrics are:

My eyeball has a broken promise inside it; it
makes the feelings gray, in a candle that's unlit

Something's wrong with me; what it is, I cannot see
Through the darkest night; what about me is not right

I got only just the vaguest feeling in my gut - I'm
Ashes burned to dust; or maybe I am just a butt

Something's wrong with me; what it is, I cannot see
Through the darkest night; what about me is not right

My eyeballs have a broken promise
That's why I fall on the flor and on this
Surface that has a tripping hazard
My night vision is growing backwards
Bad night vision, and I think it needs fixin'
Down a river, that some people call Styx. I'm in-
side a light bulb that's dead as a door nail
There's no light, because there's a power fail-
ure and the whole neighborhood is blacked out
I guess maybe we might as well sack out
There's no TV and everything is dark
As a band whose name is Linkin Park

My eyeball has a broken promise inside

Oh, crikey, the mix I did last night had a wee bit o' distortion in the vocals, so I remixed it this morning. Poop - the distortion is still there, but not as bad. I gotta be diligent about making the gain not too high when I do the vocal poopy recordings. Anyway, here's the slightly improved remix:

Backwards Song About Something Being Over

BOVERN0W
This is a song, where the girl singing it is really concentrating on her vocal performance.

She's About to Tell Us Something

She's About to Tell Us Something

This song's from Timmy and Bobby's point of view. I got the melody from a dream (just like most of my other songs). Anyway, Timmy and Bobby are listening to the girl talking about her past life, and they're apprehensive about the rest of what she's going to say.

The lyrics are:

I am Timmy and I'm Bobby
And our lives used to be fun
Now we're faced with lots of problems
And we're sad for everyone

She's about to tell us something

It sounds like she was a Wiccan
In a life a long time ago
And now we are feeling chicken
To find out what she may know

She's about to tell us something

Is she a historical oracle?
What we mean is that it's subcortical
Stored in a part of the brain that
Gives you access to greater pain
It is something that gives us a case of willies
It'll slap us everlovin' silly
Memories are stinging inside of her pain
And she will be singing in the acid rain

And we're drinking in the sadness
Water's getting in our eyes
She might tell us tales of badness
And we think that we will cry

She's about to tell us something

Grasshoppers and Locusts

Grasshoppers and Locusts

This is another song whose hook came from a dream. It's about that end-of-the-worldish theme of a plague locusts (and grasshoppers). The narrator of the story has decided that if this plague of bugs signifies the end of the world, she might as well have a beer. When you think about it, maybe that's about all you can do if it's the apocalypse. Enjoy a nice, cold beer, while you wait for the end to come.

The lyrics are:

Grasshoppers and locusts

When those scary bugs got here, I'll admit, I had some fear
Something in the air feels mighty wrong
If it's the apocalypse, I want to drink beer and sit
Listening to country music songs

Grasshoppers and locusts

I don't know what to expect, with the sky filled with insects
They gave me the willies, I confess
Is it something God has sent? And now must we all repent?
Cuz us humans made the world a mess?

In the time it takes them to fly all the way here
I hope I get the chance to have another beer

These bugs seem to have an attitude
And they come from some other latitude
Buzzing, screeching us to a halt
With some bluster, mustering assaults
Is this, indeed, the apocalypse?
And I wonder if we can stop all this
Grasshoppers and locusts are here
We can't stop them, so I'll have a beer

In the time it takes them to fly all the way here
I hope I get the chance to have another beer

Grasshoppers and locusts
