Life Cereal

Life Cereal

I impulsively recorded a song about Life Cereal. I had a strange sense-memory, I guess you could call it, come up of eating some kind of cereal. It might've been Life cereal, and that's when this fucked up song came to me.

The lyrics are:

Life Cereal, Life Cereal, Life Cereal, Life

I taste in my head

Life Cereal, Life Cereal, Life Cereal, Life
When I eat it inside of my shopping cart
It is clear that it is something set apart
From your ordinary plain old cereal
When they say it's good for you, that's clearly real

I eat it in my dreams
It tastes just like ice cream
I eat it in my bed
I eat it till I'm dead

When I get a hankering for something to eat
I get very cantankerous and I want treats
And this cereal with a peculiar name is
Sitting my brain and it said it could tame this hunger

This Tree

Here's another impulsively done mini-song. I was thinking about what method I could use to effectively sound like a drunk person when I'm singing. The first part of the song came out of that exploration. The second part is a theme I'm kicking around for maybe a future song. And the third part is the conglomeration of parts 1 and 2. And there's the dulcet tone of my air conditioner in there, too.

The picture is an excerpt from a graphic novel I'm workin' on.

This Tree

 The lyrics are:

Making

This tree is a thousand years in the making

Pitch Correction

I'm somewhat of a self-plagiarizing butthole, in the sense that this song sounds a lot like last night's song. Whoops. But I wanted to experiment with pitch correction...if you wait till the end, there's a wonderful surprise. It's just wonderful. Just beautiful.

Poop, I can't put the one type of player thingy in here cuz I cain't upload the song onto the site cuz of my dumb slow internet. It seems like everyone's internet is messed up these days. Why is everyone's internet messed up, these days? Why??????

Oh, whoops, never mind - got it to work:

Pitch correction song

Anyway, here's my fine 'speriment with pitch correction.

You Didn't Know It

You Didn't Know It

This is the next song in the possession album. In this song, Father O'Malley has talked to the fire gods in the sun, and he's passing their message along to everybody. (Or, I mean, he didn't go to the sun to talk to them - they're in the sun, and he talked to them, the same way he talks to angels and God and stuff, when he prays like regular).

The lyrics are:

I am Father O'Malley, and I am a priest, who's unconventional
I am usin' my talent to talk to the fire gods in the sun: Here's what I've been told
They told me that they are not angry
Quite to the contrary, they sang these
Words to me – they said they would like to
Tell our friend … we'd like to see you
This is what they told me, and this is their story now
Now, now, now, now
This is what they told me, and this is their story now
Now, now, now, now

You didn't know it
You didn't know it

We all ran into this thing
That make our hearts start to sting
We burned too much and we feel bad

The weather's changing down there
And it does not seem too fair
Cuz starting fires makes us get sad

You didn't know it
You didn't know it
But we are all in the same boat

You can come home again
To us, your fire god frieends
We'll welcome you into the fold

Come on back up to the sun
Where we have feeling well-done
Our home that burns and sings in gold

You didn't know it
You didn't know it
But we are all in the same boat

Stuck In Miss Caroliner

Stuck In Miss Caroliner

I got this song from a dream; it presented a particular challenge because I had to figure out what "I got stuck in Miss Caroliner" is about. It turns out, she's a witch, who swallows people whole, and now the narrator of the song is stuck inside Miss Caroliner with a bunch of other people.

I wanted to make a note of the fact that I'm not implying witches are bad. Some witches are bad, and other witches are good. And this particular witch likes to swallow lots of people.

The lyrics are:

Stuck in Miss Car-Car-Caroliner

Stuck in Miss Car-Caroliner
I don't know who she is, but I'm stuck in her

Maybe she is from Caroliner
Or Maybe she is named Caroliner
And I wonder why I got stuck inside her
And it's dark in here, so I need a lighter

I heard that Miss Caroliner swallows people whole, and I'm scared
Wait! I'm already inside her, I don't know how I was unaware
Of the fact that - and I react cuz - I'm in her digestive tract
It is black inside this meat sack, and I wonder can I get back?
To the world where I am a human again
Instead of a chicken inside of a pen
Which is in other words Miss Caroliner
She has many people who live inside her
And I wonder can I get back?

She's a witch that swallows people wholely
Taking us downstairs to places unholy
In her gut we strive to get up to sunlight
And we all might die if this isn't done right

Stuck in Miss Car-Caroliner
I don't know who she is, but I'm stuck in her

Stuck in Miss Car-Car-Caroliner

This is the Most Annoying Song in the World

Today's song is the fleshed-out version of yesterday's song. Here's the story:

Yesterday morning, I was sleeping, and my stupid neighbor started playing music really loud. It woke me outta a deep sleep, and I was pissed as all get-out, for obvious reasons.

That gave birth to the fantasy of having a really horrible, annoying, repetitive song that I could play through my bass amplifier, right up against the wall, to annoy said neighbor just as much as he was annoying me. So, I recorded a gratingly repetitive song yesterday, with the intention of putting it on infinite repeat mode, so my neighbor could enjoy hours of fun, listening to my annoying, repetitive song playing over and over.

After recording it, I realized I should share this song with the world, in case other people in the same boat as me wanted to annoy their neighbors with a horrible, repetitive song - as a result, I posted that song yesterday.

But, when I listened to it this morning, I realized I wanted to flesh it out and make it into a regular song, complete with A and B phrases and all that jazz. So, here it is.

The lyrics are:

It'll make your run for the hills when
You hear it, and in a minute, it will send
You to the world of annoyance with music
After a time, you may start to lose it

This is the most annoying song in the world
This is the most annoying song in the world
This is the most annoying song in the world
...this

It repeats ad infinitum
With annoying, stupid phrases
It repeats ad infinitum
Putting frowns on people's faces

This is the most annoying song in the world
This is the most annoying song in the world
This is the most annoying song in the world
...this

It is like nails on a chalkboard
It's the most annoying music
It is like nails on a chalkboard
There is nothing to excuse it

It'll make your run for the hills when
You hear it, and in a minute, it will send
You to the world of annoyance with music
After a time, you may start to lose it

This is the most annoying song in the world
This is the most annoying song in the world
This is the most annoying song in the world
...this

Here's the player thingy - I can't upload my song onto the website with the other player thingy yet because my internet sucks:

The Most Annoying Song in the World

Most Annoying Song in the World

This is a song I came up with, when continuing to be inundated by my crappy next door neighbor's crappy music. I have a fantasy of playing this song on a repeat loop through my bass amplifier to give that neighbor a special treat. Just put that amp right up next to the wall and blare this song over and over at them.

I probably won't, though.

But, in any event, this, truly IS the most annoying song in the world.

And in the meantime, the Ojibwe people continue to get screwed...here’s a link, in case you want to write to President Biden to ask him to make poopy-endbridge stop destroying ecosystems on Ojibwe land, violating their treaties, and threatening their way of life:

If I Were to Do Another Song Today

If I Were to Writer

This is a wee, short little ditty. I was workin' on another song, and decided to mess around on my guitar randomly. This is what came out. It is complete with the sound of the air conditioner in it.

The lyrics are:

If I were to do another song today what would it be? What would it be?

It might be about things that got real good in the middle of the town that I grew up in

Father O'Malley's Mission

O'Malley's Mission

In this possession album song, Father O'Malley offers to communicate with the fire gods in the sun because, as a priest, he has a lot of experience communicating with angels and God and stuff. He figures he can scope things out and find out whether the fire gods are made at their fire god friend for making fires that are outta control because of climate change.

The lyrics are:

Father O'Malley said he can
Talk to those fire gods up there
He said that it is a good plan
And he made us all aware...

As a priest it's part of my mission
To talk to the angels above
In addition to the Christian
God who is full of love

I think that I have a skill set
From my training as a priest
I can talk to those fire gods, I'll bet
In the sun that rises in the east

As a priest it's part of my mission
To talk to the angels above
In addition to the Christian
God who is full of love

As a priest I can talk on the telephone with things that are deities
Or at least I can send them an email if it will better meet their needs
At the sound of the tone, I will leave a brief message; I will say to those gods
Are you chilled to the bone to fine out that our fire god friend burned an awful lot
I will send some...smoke signals...to the fire gods and I will find out
Do they feel bummed...when they think of...what their friend's done and through the smoke clouds
They will tell me because I am really good at getting people to talk to me
People trust me to listen to them because I take confession real seriously

Maybe I can get some answers
From the fire god's friends
If I engage them in banter
They'll say if their friendship needs to mend

As a priest it's part of my mission
To talk to the angels above
In addition to the Christian
God who is full of love

I Don't Want to Hear Them

I Don't Want To Hear Them

This is a song about the crappiness of apartment living...specifically, it's about having noisy neighbors that play dumb music and have parties all the time, with no consideration for the fact that another human being is on the other side of their very thin wall being tortured by the noise. I think a lot o' people can probably relate to this.

The lyrics are:

My neighbors make many noises
I'm getting tired of their voices
With all the noise they are making
My head is constantly aching

I don't want to hear it anymore
I don't want to hear it anymore

I don't want to hear it
I don't want to hear it

My dumb neighbors play dumb music
And I really hate them, and I might lose it
Don't they know these walls are very thin?
And if they don't cut it out, they'll get skinned
This is why I don't own a gun
Because if I did, I'd shoot someone
I know that you think that might sound bad
But these people stink: They make me mad

And I hate all the music
That they play – I might lose it
They don't have consideration
And I lost all my patience

I don't want to hear them anymore
I don't want to hear them anymore

I don't want to hear them
I don't want to hear them

Tell Me What To Do

03 tell me what to do (2)

I'm a-posting this song for a couple reasons...I'll tell you the first reason, which has some urgency to it,  and then I'll tell you the second reason, which is more to do with the song, itself.

In short, I don't like adding posts to this page without having a song be on the post, since this is a song-blog - so here's a song!

But given that this page is probably the biggest platform I have, I wanted to use it to do something important to me...I wanted to give people some resources to help fight an awful thing that's happening here in the US.

It's another damn pipeline. I can't say it any better than Honor the Earth's donation page says it: "Line 3 is a clear danger to our climate, water, and land, and would undermine the Indigenous treaty rights of the Anishinaabe people. Enbridge's route crosses the 1854 and 1855 treaty territory where Anishinaabe people retain the right to hunt, fish, gather medicines, and harvest wild rice. The impact of construction - or worse, an oil spill - would permanently damage their ability to exercise these rights."

Well, I'm hearing this week that Water Protectors, who are trying to stop this bullshit pipeline, are now being brutalized the same way they were in 2016 at Standing Rock. Fuckity fuck.

So, here're some links, in case you want to donate to Honor the Earth, or take other actions that will help the Water Protectors fight against this horrible, short-sighted, awful, ecologically destructive treaty violation bullshit. I'm pissed.

About the song, itself - which, now that I think of it - actually speaks to how helpless I feel about this whole situation. The song is an oldy, from 2005, I believe. One day, I was listening to my iPod, and it did this weird random shuffle thing that it sometimes does without any warning. It started playing this song, which I hadn't heard in years. I thought, huh, this is an oldie but a goodie.

It's from when I first started doing therapy, as a wee little baby trainee; and I came face to face on a weekly basis with people who felt helpless in their lives and helpless in their suffering and wanted any type of advice that would get 'em outta that suffering. This was back from before I used sample drums, so it's got kinda a nice little spare sound to it.

The lyrics are:

She had a moment...pure suffering

She had a moment of pure suffering

And she said this to you: She said, "Tell me what to do, tell me what to do, tell me tell me what to do"

She said, "Tell me what to do, tell me what to do, tell me tell me what to do"

She thought that no one understood her

She was alone in cold weather

And she said this to you: She said, "Tell me what to do, tell me what to do, tell me tell me what to do"

She said, "Tell me what to do, tell me what to do, tell me tell me what to do"

she thought she could ask her friends for peanut butter; she thought they could say the words she could not utter

And she said this to you: She said, "Tell me what to do, tell me what to do, tell me tell me what to do"

She said, "Tell me what to do, tell me what to do, tell me tell me what to do"

Linkin Park with a Side of Air Conditioner

Linkin Park With a Side of Air Conditioner

I was playing around with my guitar, and this weird little arpeggiated chord came out. It sounded like it might be the same as something in a Linkin Park song, but I don't remember what song it might be. Or it might not be in any Linkin Park song, for that matter. In any event, this teeny tiny, short li'l song employs the chord thingy and raises the question of whether it's Linkin Park I'm plagiarizing or not. It also features my air conditioner, which was running at the time.

Edit: I’m posting this earlier than I’d planned cuz it looks like there’s an urgent situation that’s come up - look at the thingy at the bottom...take a look...

Yup, another round of good people, protecting their water being brutalized for doing so. This country ain’t the shining paradise I used to think it was when I was a wee, young lass, long, longgggg ago. That illusion is long gone for me. Ask anyone who’s indigenous. They’ll tell it like it is.
