That's How They Think The World Used To Be

That's How They Think The World Used To Be

This is another song where the hook came from a dream. It sounded like it was about young people's misconceptions of the way the world was before they were born. In this case, they think there used to be giants. Oh, my.

The lyrics are:

That's how they think the world used to be

Old fashioned living involved heavy lifting...of
Endless old tape decks, so heavy, they break necks

That's how they think the world used to be

Everyone ate gruel that tasted like jet fuel
Topped with potatoes, after which we ate crow

That's how they think the world used to be

Kids, these days, have an idea
And they say life was a sea of
Stupid things that made life harder
If they lived then they'd be martyrs
They said that giants were among us
They were not nice, and they grew fungus
So they could poison our dumb asses
That's what they said they learned in classes
I said, wait, what, did you say giants?
They said, “no, duh,” and they had tridents
I said did you mean the baseball team?
They said, no, they were big men, who were mean

Giants were dwelling, in fires, with flames swelling
Hotter than a furnace, with thoughts that could burn us

That's how they think the world used to be

Here's the alternative player thingy, in case you'd rather use it than the one up top:
