The Great Earthquake

The Great Earthquake

This is the song I did a rough demo of a few weeks ago. It's either about a great earthquake, or else the earthquake in it is symbolic of something. I could go either way.

The ancestral memories in these lyrics are those of my ancestors, who were in the 1906 earthquake. I wonder, though, how many people's ancestors were in big earthquakes. Maybe all of us have ancestral memories of big earthquakes.

The lyrics are:

Ancestral memories are calling on the breeze

The great earthquake, the great earthquake has come

They told me it's time to say goodbye
They told me just why I'll say goodbye

There's nothing to say, when it's hopeless
But people say, ”pray” and to smoke less
But, when the big earthquake is a-coming
I don't see the point, and I'm bumming
I don't even know why the ancestors are here
Everything is stupid and answers are unclear
God has left the house, and it's vacant
Now all that is left is some pavement

A million years apart, their dreams died in my heart

The great earthquake, the great earthquake has come

They told me it's time to say goodbye
They told me just why I'll say goodbye

Here's the alternative player thingy, in case the one at the top doesn't work on your portable electronic device:
