It's a green song. It's dark. It's a dark green song.

'Kay, I wasn't sure when I was gonna post this one, cuz this song's, y'know, near and dear to my heart, and the like. I think I was in somewhat of a shamanic state o' mind when I wrote it.
But, yeah, like, then I found out today there's gonna be this song-writing contest, not too far from where I live, and it's for Earth Day, and you're supposed to submit "green" songs. This is about the greenest song I've written thus far in my life. It's green-ish.
But, I wanted to post it here to run it by people who come here to get their valued opinions about if this is song-contest-worthy, and the like. I think it's worthy, cuz I like it a lot, but I dunno if it's contest-worthy in the popular-kid sort of way, y'know.
The bushes in the picture aren't as big as trees like the ones in the song, but I don't think I have any pictures of bushes that big, man.
Download Anthropomorphic kitten
I got this song from a dream a few weeks ago. I dreamed that me and my brother found this little kitten and she peed all over me! Then the little kitten started acting like a person. In the dream, I started writing a song called "Anthropomorphic Kitten," but when I woke up, I didn't remember what it sounded like. But I tried to replicate how it sounded, and this is how it came out.
I tried to find a picture of my kitties looking anthropomorphic, but I dunno if they ever really look anthropomorphic, cuz they're so cat-like. This is about as close as I could come.
This is a really old song. It was...what year was it that I wrote it? 2003, okay, yeah. It's a song about a memory (but I sorta took artistic liberties with the memory). It's one of those M4A files cuz when I downloaded the songs from the CD onto the computer, that's the kind of file it made.
It's probably easier to hear the lyrics of the song if you play it on tinny computer speakers, cuz in regular speakers, the bass-ish-ness of the song sort of overwhelms the mix. But, you know, when I mixed it down, years ago, I was in sort of a bass-ish mood, and the like.
It's just that, well, you know that island that the Bay Bridge (from the East Bay to San Francisco) is sitting on? It's called Treasure Island. My grandpa was the lead engineer when they built that island, that's right. I'm not shitting you. My very own grandpa built Treasure Island! One day, I thought, wouldn't it be neat if they named that island after Grandpa? It would be called Grandpa Island.
So, yeah. In reality, Grandpa wasn't tryin' to make a utopia or anything like that, like the song suggests. I wouldn't be surprised if ghosts lived there, though.
See, there're lots of rich people all over the bay area that buy houses and then say they're "remodeling" them, but it's all a lie. They tear the house down so there's nothing but the foundation left, and then proceed to build their ugly, nightmare dream houses on top. I seen it all over palo alto. It's bad enough that they tear down houses that've been there for a long, long, long time, but then the houses they build ontop are these ugly, monstrosities. They're just a huge box because they want to make it as big as possible. And there's no yard, cuz it's all covered with big, ugly house. That's what happened to my grandparents' house. It makes me sadddddd.
Hi, all, here's a new song. I'll add more, um, texty, explainy stuff soon-ish.
Actually, a really cool friend o' mine came up with the idear for this song, so thanks, man! It totally wouldn't exist if it wasn't for her!!!!

Download Grandmothers of death
I started recording this song at about 6pm, and now it's 8:17pm. Cool, man, in about 2 hours you can have a song go from bein' an idear in your head to bein' on the internet for everyone in the whole wide world to hear! (Or, in my case, the 3 people who check this blog. Thanks, guys!)
Anyway, I think I know what this song's about, but it would be stupid to try to put it into words, you know, man. But, I thought it'd be nice to stay with the theme of grandparents and death, cuz that's kind of a nice thing to write songs about.
Okay, yeah, the picture has nothing to do with the song, but the cats behind the screen door are sorta ominous-looking, like the narrators of the song. I know, I'm reachin', but I just wanted a pretty picture so this blog wouldn't look too boring.
That was also the last song I wrote/recorded when I was livin' in LA. The theme of the song works pretty well with endings, I guess.
