Here's the next backwards song on the "Space Between Songs" album. The title sorta gives away the fact that the forwards version, which I'll post next week, is about piss.

I was too lazy to draw an illustration for this here song, but this picture almost sort of kind of has something to do with the song. I mean, if you were standing below these guys, you probably wouldn't want them to pee on you.

When you listen to this song, you'll get the opportunity to hear me rapping backwards. Backwards rap. That's some fancy stuff there.

Backwards Version of High Tonight (The First Song of "The Space Between Songs")

This is the first of the posts of the new album. (There's an even newer one that I'm working on right now, but it might suck).

See, okay, this new album is the songs that are supposed to go between the songs of the album I posted last week. As I was working on it, I realized it needed explainy stuff between the songs that were on there. Y'know how operas and stuff have songs that go between the arias that explain shit? Usually those songs suck. I tried to challenge myself to do those same types of songs but not make them suck.

I dunno if it ended up being problematic, though, because some of these songs ended up sounding kinda aria-ish. I mean, I dunno if it's a good idea to have so many emotional climaxes in a row and not have plain stuff in between, even if plain stuff tends to suck. And then, ontop of that, I still need to put the 2 albums together and see if the plot needs further explaining, or if it stands alone without the need for lots of liner notes. We'll see. In any event. this new album's called "The Space Between Songs." Actually, I think that might be the title of a Dead Milkmen song, but I'm not sure.

BACKHIGH

Here's the backwards version of the first song on the new album (that song's called "High Tonight.") You actually heard the frontwards version if you tuned in on October 6, 2017, because I was all impulsive and posted it. I put "High Tonight" at the bottom this post so you don't have to scroll backwards in this blog in order to hear it.

Fuck, this was challenging to record because the lyrics are so fast. See, I was attempting to rap when I recorded "High Tonight," but I ultimately ended up just singing this song in a monotone, because I thought my spoken word voice sounded like shit. If you stay tuned for the rest o' the album, you'll get to see how my white-girl-attempts at rapping evolve over time. (You can be the judge of whether it sucks or not).

Here's the song above, if you turn it around. I got closer to the original song than I thought I would, given the challenging nature of it. I mean, I wish I'd gotten closer, but just the fact that it bears a passing resemblance to the original one was a relief to me.

HITONITE

And, finally, here's the original song. It's from the point of view of Corky, as he's going to meet his friends at this abandoned house, so they can all smoke pot together. Unfortunately, they're not there, and instead, there're these mean guys there, who ultimately end up killing Corky. (See "I Am Dead" in last week's entry if you wanna hear the song that's the aftermath of him getting killed).

For anyone new to this blog, the album I'm discussing is based on the movie, Skins. (Spoiler Alert)... It follows this character, Corky Red Tail, into the afterlife cuz he gets murdered in the beginning of the movie. Then he's joined by Mogie and Verdell, who both die of alcoholism in one way or another. The three of them work together to try to get a message to Corky's mom that he's okay in the afterlife. The most likeliest candidate to do that is Rudy, Mogie's brother, because all three of them knew Rudy when they were alive, so they're all connected to him in one way or another.

Corky Red Tail's Adventures in the Spirit World

Oh, heavenly gosh, this is the album I've been working on for almost a year. Here it is in its entirety, with all the songs in the proper order. I'm writing which characters in this wacky rock-opera thingy sing each song, so maybe you'll have a good idear of what's going on in the story. In any event, I'll get back to posting new stuff next week, but I thought it would be good to have this entire album here in one place for your listening enjoyment. Woohoo.

In short, this album's based on the movie, Skins. [Spoiler Alert!!!!] It's about this teenage or early-20s dude, Corky Red Tail, who gets murdered. He wants to get a message to his mom that he's okay in the spirit world. He at first tries to get Rudy the cop; Rudy's brother, Mogie; and Mogie's best friend, Verdell to get the message to his mom, but it doesn't work. After Mogie and Verdell die of events related to their suffering from alcoholism, they join Corky in the spirit world, where they all work together to get Rudy to get the message to Corky's mom that he's okay. (Rudy ends up throwing a bucket of paint on the bust of George Washington at Rushmore, which makes George look like he's crying, and that ends up being the sign that Corky's mom needs in order to know he's okay. That's cuz it looks like a drawing Corky did in a notebook of George Washington crying, from when he was a kid (see above).)

See, much of the stuff in this here album actually does happen in the movie. I wanted to make a behind-the-scenes back-story thingamagigger involving Corky cuz I was curious as to what happened to him in the spirit world. Now I know. Thank God it had a happy ending.

NOHEDINT
Corky sings most of the song, but Rudy is the guy sayin' "no as a matter of fact, he did not" and the dude askin' about trouble makers is Rudy's boss. Corky's singing about how he'd love to live in a place where cats sing and people smoke lots of pot. Little does he know he's gonna end up there soon (the spirit world, in other words.)

Corky sings this song. It's about how he likes working at the supermarket.

I Am Dead 2

Corky sings this song. It's about how it sucks to be murdered.

CORKYRED(1)

When Corky gets to the spirit world, he's bummed out that he didn't get to sing his death song before he died because it happened so suddenly and unexpectedly. But then the spirits tell him he can go ahead and sing it, anyway. Then he does.

MESSAGE1

Corky realizes he needs to get a message to his mom that he's okay. This medicine man-dude is the talking-dude in the samples. He's tellin' Rudy that maybe Iktomi the Trickster Spider entered his brain and that's why Rudy feels out of sorts (see below).

LOOKSELF
Rudy and the medicine man sing this song. Rudy feels not-himself; unbeknownst to him, it's cuz Corky's trying to communicate with him, and that's making his thought processes feel all funky and messed up.

STOPBY44

In this song, Corky is trying to communicate to this drunk guy, Verdell, who sez "whatja stop by for?" Corky's trying to take advantage of Verdell's altered state of consciousness in order to communicate. It doesn't work.

GHOSTOFC
Rudy finds the 2 guys who killed Corky and gets revenge by bashing their knees with a baseball bat. Rudy's the one who sez "I'm the ghost of Murdered Corky." Meanwhile, Corky's freaking out cuz he's scared he influenced Rudy to do that.

INTOM0RO

Corky convinces Rudy to go to work the next day (although Rudy thinks he made the decision by himself). See, Corky's mom's house is on the way to his work, so he stops in to say hi. Corky wants him to get the message to her that he's okay - it doesn't work.

VERDELL4

Verdell ends up dying and going to the spirit world, where he meets up with Corky. In this song, Verdell is telling Corky about how alcoholism screwed up his life.

GEEZUCAN

Then Verdell comes up with a plan to get Corky's message to his mom. He says they can get Mogie to do it, because he's a joker; and graffiti-ing George Washington to make him look like he's crying would be right up his alley.

RUSHMORE
But when Mogie gets the message, he misinterprets it as blowing up George Washington instead of painting him.

LOTSAFUN

Then Mogie dies, and Verdell and Mogie sing about how much fun they can have in the spirit world (Corky joins in with them).

INADREAM

Corky visits Rudy in a dream; Rudy is confused until Corky tells him it's a dream and spirits can visit people in dreams. They proceed to smoke pot.

WONDERWYnew mix

Mogie, Verdell, and Corky try to prepare Rudy for the message they're about to give him.

STUPID03
Rudy gets the message from the 3 of them and realizes what it is (telling him to vandalize George to make him look like he's crying). But he thinks it's a stupid idea. The three of them tell him to do it anyway.

GREATWHT

Mogie re-iterates the importance of making George Washington look like he's crying.

HOLYFUCK

Rudy finally decides to do the deed; Verdell and Mogie are flabbergasted that Rudy, the straight-laced cop-guy, is gonna do something illegal by vandalizing George. Corky throws in his death song, for good measure.

THREWIT1

Rudy's singing about how he threw that fucking can of paint. He did it. Woohoo.

NICEDAY3

Corky, Verdell, and Rudy are all happy and relieved that they succeeded (along with Rudy) in getting the message to Corky's mom that he's okay.

Now they're singing about how they can go and have fun. It's a re-statement of the theme of the first song, just to tie things together.

This is the last of the 3 grande finale songs on the Corky Death Album. Oh, holy gosh, I cain't believe I've already reached the end. I'm a little sad because this has been an ongoing project for almost a year now.

In any event, this song's sung from the point of view of Corky, Mogie, and Verdell. They're all happy that Rudy (who's in the picture, driving the SUV) threw the paint on old George at Rushmore, made him look like he was crying, and as such, succeeded in making a sign for Corky's mom that Corky's okay in the afterlife. (Cuz it'll remind her of a picture of George Washington crying that Corky drew when he was a kid).

The three dudes in Heaven are all happy now, and they start singing about how they're in a place where cats sing, and people can drink as much booze and smoke as much pot as they want, without any repercussions, cuz it's Heaven, after all. There's a re-statement of the theme of the very first song on the album, which ties everything together, maybe.

I'm posting an extra song this week because I'm finishing up this graphic novel, and there's a scene where the characters sing this very song. I have this notes section where I went on to tell the readers where to go to listen to this song. I was gonna refer them to this here blog, when I realized I'd never posted this song! I posted the backwards version of it on July 10, 2016, but I never posted the forwards version of it. 

This song's from the previous rock opera/death-album thingy I wrote in 2015, also based on the movie, Skins. This song's sung from the point of view of Rudy the Cop. He's singing about how maybe if he's good enough, he'll get to go to Heaven.

I threw in stuff about my cats, Charlie and Daisy, as well as Timmy and Bobby, who are characters that play supporting roles in the graphic novel. So that's why there's a picture of Charlie and Daisy up there. It's not like Charlie and Daisy necessarily have anything to do with Rudy the Cop. Neither do Timmy and Bobby. I just put 'em in there to pay tribute to them.

I Threw That Can Of Paint

This is the first of the 3-song grand finale of the Corky death-album I'm workin' on. In this song, Rudy the Cop climbs up on top of George Washington on Rushmore and throws a can of paint so it'll land on George's face and make it look like he's cryin'. The sample is of him saying "I love you, Mogie," cuz in the movie (and in the album), he's doin' it in his brother's honor. He's also doin' it in honor of the sacred rocks that got carved up to make the stupid statue. There's also this cool singing on the sample cuz the cool singing is in that part of the movie. Woohoo.

I'm taking a brief detour from the Corky album cuz I cain't remember what all songs from it I've posted (and it got all late, and my frontal lobe ain't working well enuff for me to draw a picture to illustrate a song).

This is a different version of the "Have Lots of Fun" song that's on the Corky album. See, I originally got the song from a dream, where I met 2 cats, and they started singing this song to me. This version is about as close as I can get to the actual dream song.

The part about Carl Jung is a reference to the section of The Red Book, where Jung meets the devil, and the devil tells him that he is joy. (Weird fucking shit, man).

 See, okay, I recorded the backwards version of the song today, but it sucks balls. Oddly enough the turned-back-around version sounds not too bad. This is the next song in the Corky Red Tail rock opera/death album-thingy I'm working on. In this song, Rudy is asleep and dreaming, but he doesn't know it at first. When he sees Corky, he's all surprised because Corky's supposed to be dead. Corky, who's actually visiting Rudy in his dream (spirits can do that) explains to him that he's dreaming, and he's just popping in for a visit. They proceed to smoke pot.
