How Would Water Like Linkin Park?

This song has kind of a long back-story. Heh heh.

I was reading about this guy named Masaru Emoto, who did these experiments on water. Like, if you take a glass of water and put a sticker on it that says something like "love," when you freeze the water, it makes these pretty crystalline structures that are all nice and symmetrical and snowflake-looking. But if you put a sticker on the glass of water that says something nasty and mean, the water forms these gross looking asymmetrical, dull, poopy looking shapes. (His book is called "The Hidden Messages In Water").

The book I was reading yesterday said that water also forms these ugly looking shapes if you subject it to harsh sounding music. That made me wonder what qualifies as harsh-sounding, and what doesn't. Like, what kind of music does water like, and what kind of music does water not like?

Then I wondered if water would like Linkin Park cuz I've been listening to lots of Linkin Park.

That's what this song's about - like, how would water like Linkin Park? I'm not sure, myself. I kinda thought this song would be funny if it actually sounded like Linkin Park. But it doesn't. Oh, well.

Popular Girl

Here's a song about how fucking awesome it is to be a popular girl in high school.

Self-Conscious World

I got this song from a dream this morning. It's sort of an old-school Industrial tune.

Okay, crap, when I tried to listen to this, it was all crackly and sounded like shit. Go here if you have that problem on your computer, too (it seems to sound fine here):

Raven

I messed around a little bit with with counterpoint in this song. Yesiree. I've been listening to Linkin Park a lot, and I think that's why this song came out the way it did. But I dunno if the average, common-garden-variety listener would recognize it as bein' influenced by them. Yeah, I'm not sure. I'll have to think about that.

I think this is another one of those songs about how fucked up this world is. Yeah, I think that's sort of what it's about.

I've been a big chicken about posting songs lately, cuz the previous 2 songs are so good that anything else that follows 'em will sound dumb, and like a regression to the mean. Oh, well. I'll just go ahead and post it, anyway.

You Were Gone

I wrote this song when I was feeling a little bit sad. It was really strange cuz, like, I noticed a while ago that all the crows in my neighborhood were missing. So, I stuck a thing about the crows missing in the song. Yesiree.

Cosmetic Empty-Side

I got this song from a dream; well, I got the first verse/chorus thingy from the dream, anyway. The picture is the structure thingy I saw when I was in the dream. The song was supposedly about Native American people who were trying to be British, and somehow they were dying. The song was about them dying. The structure thingy was involved in the whole process of them trying to be British and dying, but I don't remember how. It's sort of like I sort of know what the song's about but I sort of don't at the same time cuz that surrealistic dream-language tends to be sort of loose and floppy, meaning-wise.

Trucks As Big As Houses

Oh, dude, it's been a while since I've done a new song. I've been so busy workin' on my nice li'l graphic novel that I ain't been doin' much, music-wise. But here's a new one. It took me something like 9 months to write it. Oh, whoah, that's a gestational period. How strange.

I came up with the idear when I was driving on the 880 and found that I didn't want to be run over by the very big trucks on it. The song is abstract-ish, though, so it's subject to all kinds of interpretation and all that.

Those Darn Ads

I get so tired of those "limp dick" ads on TV. Here's the most recent Levitra one. Or was it Cialis?

Yet Another Vampire Song

The mix for this song is kind of ass, but I'll post it anyway. I was playing around with my fake version of pitch correction, ha ha ha.

Song that Characters Sing on Page 37

Here's a wee excerpt of a song that shows up in Volume 1 of my graphic novel, oh yeah. I haven't published it yet, but I wanted people to hear what the song sounds like, cuz when the characters sing it, you only just see the words, and you don't hear what the melody is like. The rest o' this song ain't ready for prime-time yet, so I just posted a li'l snippet of it.

'Course the part that the characters sing is kind of quiet in this recording, so you sort of have to listen for it. If you've read far enough in the novel, yes, the Timmy and Bobby in this song are the same people as the characters that show up toward the end of Volume 1.

From A Dream

I know this isn't a song,  but it's something I got from a dream. I dreamed of a comic book about an alien planet, where there was a sharp division between the rich and the poor. The long caption says: the middle rich dude was considered to be uncommonly handsome because he had a straight nose, which is not so common on this world.

The Root Note Heaven

Download The root note heaven 2

There've been a couple instances in my life when there's been bad stuff, like, really super bad stuff. But then outta that bad stuff comes a song, and the song is sort of like God tapping me on the shoulder and saying, yes you're going through a really hard time, but I'm still here.
