There's a thing that happened a while back that kept me from being dead. Someday, I might tell people what it was, but for now, it's one of those times I should keep it to myself. Y'know, it's better to keep your cards close to you or however that poker expression goes. Yeah, I think I just mangled that poker expression about not giving away your hand because you're holding your cards close to your chest. Yeah, it's that old expression about not being too reveal-y with one's cards. I mean, I'm dumb; I could just google it and see what it is, but I'm lazy. I'm the laziest person who's ever walked the face of this earth, but at least I'm not dead yet.
The odd, spooky thing about this song is, when it says, "I might be dead now," that's actually a possibility, in the sense that - given that this song is pre-recorded - I could have passed after posting it. This could, very well, be the song of a dead person. If the great earthquake came tonight and I got smushed after posting this here song, then I would be dead, and you could still hear my voice.
But I'm not planning on being dead anytime soon.
The lyrics are:
I might be dead now, dead now, dead nowI might be dead now, dead now, dead now
I might be dead now, I could be dead now, dead now, dead now
I might be dead now, I could be dead now, dead now, dead now
Something peculiar occurred
I can't put into words
Otherwise, I might have died
I shook my head, and I cried
I could be dead now, I could be dead now, dead now, dead now
I could be dead now, I could be dead now, dead now, dead now
I can't tell you just now
Just what it is, or just how
Something made me still be here
Just why that was, I'm not clear
I might be dead now, dead now, dead now
I might be dead now, dead now, dead now
I could be deceased
To the fancy feast of
Carrion crows
But I did not die
Death, I did defy
Yes, I am alive
And I say, “whoah”
I don't know why this something saved me
From the grave, and I say it gravely
What the fuck? I don't know
Was it luck? I think maybe so
I could be dead now, I could be dead now, dead now, dead now
